US GRANT FOR FOAMIX’S SACCHARIDE FOAM PATENT
ADDS DEPTH TO FOAMIX’S BROAD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PORTFOLIO AND PROTECTS TOPICAL “SWEET FOAM” PRODUCTS FOR WOUND & BURN THERAPY

Rehovot (Israel), January 14, 2010

Foamix Ltd., a leading developer of topical foams for dermatological and gynecological use, announced today that the United States Patent Office has granted the company a key patent, protecting foam formulations comprising saccharides.

Foamix has been granted United States Patent No. 7,645,803, entitled "SACCHARIDE FOAMABLE COMPOSITIONS". It covers unique foamable compositions, which comprise saccharides, such as monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides and honey. Foamable compositions, as well as methods of treatment and of drug delivery using them are claimed in the patent.

"This patent grant adds depth to Foamix’s patent portfolio and enhances the position of our multiple foam technologies and delivery systems," stated Dr. Dov Tamarkin, CEO of Foamix.

"The granted claims re-enforce our broad intellectual property portfolio and evidence our pioneering role in the development of medicated foams. Moreover, it is another milestone achieved through Foamix’s continuing investment in an extensive research and development program on foam technology," explained Dr. Tamarkin.

About Foamix’s Saccharide Foam

Foamix develops multiple proprietary foam platforms for effective and safe delivery of topical drugs. Our technological platforms include emollient foam formulations, which comprise oil in water or water in oil emulsion, Ointment-Foam, which is occlusive, Waterless Hydrophilic Foam, based on hydrophilic solvents, Oil Foam, Hydro-Ethanolic Foam, Potent-Solvent Foam, which consist of unique pharmaceutical solvents, Suspension Foam and Saccharide Foam.

The Foamix foams are easy to apply and spread, they disappear into the skin quickly, and offer the cosmetic elegance of fine skin care products. They can be used as carriers for a variety of drugs, including steroids, hormones, antibacterials, antifungals, antivirals, immunomodulators, local anesthetics, vitamins, anti-allergics, hair growth agents, and insect killing/repelling agents.

The Foamix’s saccharide foam is a unique topical formulation. In certain cases the saccharide concentration is high enough to make the composition hygroscopic, thereby enhancing its microbicidal effects. Various saccharides and honey are also known to have wound healing properties; and thus, the Foamix foam compositions can be used in the treatment of wounds and burns, either alone or in combination with additional wound healing agents.
